Hey all,
It's been a while since I posted here. Just starting to get back into things. So here's the story.
A little while ago, I came across Donovan Meyers Vewlix project on line and was in awe. I have very minimal woodworking skills and very basic tools. I've built a couple of VERY simple cabs a few years ago that I get tons of enjoyment out of, but they're nowhere near as complex as the projects you see around here. That being said, I psyched myself up into giving the project a stab. Brought a circular saw and a router (my last projects were only done with a jigsaw :dizzy:) and got to work.
Well, a few weeks into the project and things got really nuts at work which really limited the time I had to work on the project. Then summer arrived and I really had to work myself up to deal with working in the garage with Phoenix heat. Then my dad passed away from cancer -- at that point, I pretty much gave up on the project. Figured I didn't have the skill necessary to finish it anyway, so.... end of story... almost.
A couple of weeks ago, I decided I needed to finish what I started. I got tired of looking at all of the unused material sitting in the garage. Even with things starting to get hot here again, I got some motivation back and my main goal is to get the project to the point of where I have no choice but to finish it. (After wrestling with the curved top portion, I almost walked away again) Below is what I have so far. I've never seen a Vewlix cab in person, however, I realize that most of them don't have the big coin doors in the front -- it was the easiest way for me to get access to the cab. I'll keep you guys posted and see if I can find my old progress photos. In the meantime, it's great to be back.

Excellent! I love following Vewlix builds. Keep at it and post lots of pics.
Sorry to hear about your dad, I lost mine to cancer too.

This is looking really nice so far.
I started building a Vewlix cab recently, I've got a way to go before I catch you up though.
I look forward to seeing your progress.
