Hello Folks
Long time lurker here and lover of this hobby, been reading saints book for ages and I am slowly collecting parts to put together my cabinet. :applaud:
I got a pretty good idea what I am going for but I am struggling with stick choice. The cabinet is going to be purely MAME. I have an original Star Wars Yoke 8) to go on the panel, there will be a trackball, two spinners, 6 buttons per player, player 1+2 buttons and a hidden admin button under the panel. That parts was easy to decide.
Finally a joystick per player. This is where I struggle. I was originally thinking U360 for having the most options but I expect a switchable 4/8 way stick would feel better? I do need the option to change as my most favourite games list is quite varied control wise:-
Star Wars
Centipede
Black Widow
All the Street Fighters (except 1!)
KOF
Pac-Man
Tapper
Discs Of Tron
zzyzzyxx (what kind of name is that!!??)
Zookeeper
Donkey Kongs
Gorf
Simpsons
Space Invaders
So even if I made a cabinet JUST for these there is a lot. I have been searching these forums for ages now for help there are so many varied and contradicting opinions its been difficult to decide. I expect I will get the same here lol. The U360 seems to be the right choice, I want to know how it FEELS, does it feel like an arcade stick, does it feel vastly different? I expect the stiffer spring helps? Is it enough? If I went with a 4/8 way stick would the yoke pick up the slack for many other analogue games? It works well with driving games at least :)
Cheers peeps!!

Its definitely gonna look the buisness :) I have the original Marquee from the same Star Wars cabinet and repropduction Star Wars side art and kick plate. Gonna do some jigging about to get the controll panel in the same art style ;D I have got a repro control panel but it will have to be larger for the extra controls. Still got to decide what colour buttons to go for aswell.

You can't have too many buttons! Also, if you can't decide on a color, get some RGB LED buttons and you can make em light up what ever color you want! You can have em flashing and changing color! You have any pics of a potential control panel layout? I can't wait to see!

I'll chime in about the SW Yoke picking up slack. It will, for some games. I have several analog "stick" types and to be honest, I prefer the yoke over some of them. Just seems that I can shoot way more accurately in Space Harrier and Starblade with the SW yoke rather than an analog "stick." Is it purist, no. Does it play better? IMNSHO Hells yes! However, I prefer a regular analog "stick" such as the Ultimarc UltraStick for your more... platform based games, including many of the 49 Way and Hall Effect games. IN that bracket we're talking about Sinistar, Road Runner, Escape From the Planet of Robot Monsters, Blitz, Gauntlet Dark Legacy/Legends, etc.
