Title: Has anyone used this service??
Post by: darkmanx on March 31, 2002, 09:05:00 pm
Its a group of ROM burners that burn em for free if you send them the discs and return postage. Seems like a great idea, I am just wondering if anyone has had any experience with them.

Also, consider donating something.  A great idea and hope they stick around.  I dont' think they accept money (because that would be wrong) but maybe send them a set of 25 CDs for a set of 5.

I never used them myself (got into emulation back when you could download all the roms in an hour or so) and kept up since then.

Used the service about 3 weeks ago.  I live in the U.S. and burner Chris from NE had the MAME .58 discs in the mail about 3 days after I posted the payment on Paypal. Discs included all roms (except Legendary Wings for some reason . . .) along w/ artwork, screen shots, etc.
They did send me an email stating that since mame.dk went down there volume is way up and to be patient. Keep it in mind.

Discs are great and I couldn't be happier.  Now if I could only find a reliable outlet for the .59 ROMS! ;)

Yeah, I kinda figured they would.  But I've taken up enough of their time--hate to be a lamer every 4 weeks when a new MAME release hits the web.  Let those more needy gamers get the ROMS they need (heh).

Yeah I was able to get the 'new' roms (only 44) but the 'changed' rom list for .59 is massive. And I'm afraid to waste my time downloading them from a master list somewhere in fear that I'd be getting the older versions. Anyone know a reliable place to download these latest 'changed' roms (to make sure they are indeed the .59 versions?).

I haven't really looked yet, but most of the changed roms are in the neogeo roms.

Aren't they just renames?  I think you can run clrmame on them and it will fix all your neogeo games for you in one shot... no downloading

Yea, Clrmame will fix those up real quick.

Man, and to think I got all mine through a 56K modem over a period of 3 months.

So aside from those simple changes, does anyone have a list of the games that need to be downloaded (that were ligitimately changed)? Thanks!

I'd like to have that list myself. If anyone knows which changed roms NEED to be downloaded, please post the list. Thanks!
