Been looking at some 24mm buttons and wondering if I should order some to play around with. I don't really like curved layouts I've discovered, but it seems a good way to shave a bit of space off the 3x2 layout. Anybody using these things that wants to chime in about playability, comfort, spacing, etc? What're the pros and cons?
For reference I'm looking at the Sanwa OBSC and Seimitsu PS14 buttons available from Focusattack

They're great for admin buttons, although haven't tried them for action buttons. Might be worth making a quick 'n dirty mockup to see how they might fare, although my gut is they'd be a bit on the small side.

I used the same buttons on my home made Hit Box (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,118976.0.html/) that I use for MK9 on the PS3. I love them, they give great feedback and they were short enough so I could make the box more low profile.

So comfy for day to day regular use?

They contain the same switches as the larger buttons, so the actuation force and all that is the same.
I did do some very quick experimenting one time using four of them in a Neo Geo layout. The idea was to have a tight grouping that would match how my fingers naturally rest without having to flatten my hand and spread my fingers out. It wasn't too bad for one and two button games, but on the four button games, it felt like using a keyboard.
In the end, I just couldn't get past the size. Small buttons just don't feel "arcade-y", even if they do use microswitches.
I could probably get used to them on a miniature or table-top build, but on a full size build I think they would always feel out of place.
Just my opinion. :afro:

Good feedback, thanks! Overall I'd be saving less than half an inch on the width, but when inches matter its something to consider.
