In the US and the UK (I believe), this is a three day weekend. I took yesterday off work and made a couple of batches of sausage. My intent was one batch (5lbs) of bratwurst and one batch of roasted poblano pepper sausage. But after cutting up the meat and seasoning them, I didnt pay attention when I started grinding and mixing. So the meat for the brats was mixed with the peppers and vice versa. So I have two moderately spicy sausages that taste good instead of one very spicy and one rich, deep brat.
Dammit.
Pics attached. White bowl is meat for brat while green is spicy meat. Final pic is the roasted pepper sausage stuffed. Half I twisted while leaving the other in one long casing. Family event today so we will see who bitches at me first.
What is everyone doing?

That looks good man. Honestly I didn't think people still celebrated Memorial day anymore other than an occasional parade or graveyard service.

We have family grill-outs every year.
Spicy sausages? Sounds fantastic to me!

I plan on having insane amounts of cocaine and take laps around the neighborhood stark naked but i don't knock anyone that celebrates their 3 day weekend in some other way.

Who needs a 3 day weekend to do that? I mean if we are counting everyday activities. ;)

You have no shame. I never knew you! :P

Yeah, even in the 80s (maybe 90s, but I wasn't paying attention) most people in my neighborhood an all had barbecues and stuff. Like a light 4th of July. It was a day out of school, and burgs on the grill made it that much better.

You know, I said that... but guess what the family decided to do tomorrow?
Yup I'll be firing up the grill as well apparently. Nothing fancy, hamburgers, hot dogs, roasted corn, ect.....

Well did anybody die of food poisoning? I cooked and nobody complained so I guess it was alright. ;)

Glad the family survived Howard. :)
Made a little mac and cheese also. Franks Hot Sauce added a nice flavor and I topped it with bacon.

My wife's masters Graduation was Saturday so went to that, which was an effort in patience with our 20 month old son. 3 hours later all's well. We had her family and mine over for grilling. Wings, ribs, flank steak, pork tenderloin, corn, asparagus, shish kabobs and grilled pineapples. I spent the rest of the weekend doing yard work and getting the pool ready for swimming hopefully when the warm weather comes back.
I also got tired of the old drop/color stuff so I'm building a self monitoring system using an Arduino first and maybe a RaspberryPi second with PH/ORD sensors. Kind of a fun project and will make my life much easier when trying to balance the pool.

Congrats to you and the wife. Sounds like a nice spread you had. :applaud:

Congrats!
What is it with graduation ceremonies? They are always too long.
Line em up...point em at the podium and have them sprint. They can grab the diploma as they pass and if they miss, second lap time! ;)

---fudgesicle---, why even go to a graduation? At least in the Corps, you get ta 'lean back an strut', eyes right an all that ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---.
That grub you had, Kahli, at least made up for it. MM.
Warm weather is hea! I been in my pool most every day!
...I said that...
I said that..... -echoing voices- ...I said.... I said.... I said that.....
((Points for knowing where that came from......))

Thanks all. She was super happy to be done with it and I'm very proud of her. Now unfortunately she wants me to go back for my masters, which I'm not really motivated to do just yet. Sometime soon sure, but not yet.
Graduations are weird. I'm fine with calling out everyone's name/acknowledging them since they just spent X years trying to gain that degree. What gets me is the 40 minutes it takes to march them all in and sit down and then the 40 minutes it takes for them to leave. They wouldn't allow us to leave until all the graduates left which resulted in my son getting super upset.

Really, they locked ya all down? Just from a kid point of view, I'd think they might be understanding. Hell, not like ya all are there for anybody but yer loved ones!
Too many questions. I'da just got up an left.
