Title: Printing Dimensions
Post by: jdbailey1206 on May 23, 2013, 09:51:26 am
Hey everyone.

Just wondering what size your artwork should be before sending it to the printers.  I guess my question is as long as it is vectorized does it have to be to scale or can you just tell the printer what dimensions you would like everything printed at?  Thanks in advance for the input.

I usually send in to the printer at the exact dimensions in 300dpi with a 10mm bleed

I send the image scaled to the size I want and provide the size in the notes of the order. That way if the art is off size I don't eat reprinting costs. Now getting your boards to match the art you printed and be tricky lol. Some folks print a bit extra around the boarder to give some wiggle but I suggest building that into your image and always have the printer print to the size you determine.
