What is the throw like on a U360 with the circular restrictor and the regular shaft length (ie. without the longer shaft add-on)?
I'm gonna be doing a one player panel and I want to be able to play both 8-way and 4-way games properly, and I'm not crazy about having two sticks or having to manually switch a restrictor between 8-way and 4-way.
The U360 sounds like a good option, but I really want a stick with a short throw. If it's got a longish throw, I'm probably better off with an alternative.
Thoughts?

Go with an octagonal restrictor. I gotta feel those corners...

Normally I'd agree with you - but 90% of the games I'm gonna play on this will be 4-way or shmups. I like a circular restrictor for shmups.

Anybody? :dunno

Can't speak for the circular restrictor as I haven't tried it. But using the 4-way restrictor, it still feels longer than other sticks (like the Leaf-Pro or LS-32).

Thanks shponglefan.
I think I'm gonna have to pass. Too bad, sounds like just what I need except for the throw. Maybe I would find it ok, but it's too expensive to buy one just to try it out. I had a 4 way with a longish throw on a panel once, and I found Pac games and DK difficult to play, and Frogger borderline unplayable.
I'll have to decide between having two sticks or a switchable stick I guess.

I'm finding it really short. Mine is mounted in a 3/4 panel without the long shaft (they're sold out right now) and with a bat top, no restrictor.

I find that somewhat surprising, since w/o a restrictor I found its throw quite long. How do you have it mounted? If its undermounted beneath a 3/4" CP, depending on the hole size, the CP itself could be limiting the throw distance...

Maybe it's because I'm used to more "american style" sticks. It is under 3/4, but the stick doesn't touch the sides of the 1 1/8 hole at all.

Maybe. I'm just surprised because I've heard people complain about the U360 (sans restrictor) being too long a throw, but never too short. And in my experience at least comparing to the other joysticks I've tested, without a restrictor it's probably got the longest throw of the bunch.

eds is used to suck-ass Comps is what it is. Even an original Pac stick had a fair amount of throw, and moved a little past the actuation point. Okay for ringing mazes, I guess, and maybe okay for shooters. I think the circular U360 restrictor is decent. I'd like it shorter/smaller, but the mapping isn't fine enough to handle it. Octagonal restictor is good, too.
