Title: Best place to buy a mame cabinet kit or pre-built
Post by: magnox on May 19, 2013, 09:30:40 pm: Im not much of a wood worker but would love to be able to use existing equipment, I have pcs, tvs from 32-55" spare, so I would love to be able to buy a kit just to put together. Does anyone have suggestions?

If a kit is too far outside of reality, what about complete systems? cabinet, screen, even pc I guess?

Can't think of any regular cabinets that will house larger screens like the 55" that you mentioned.

If you must go that big, go with the TV on the wall and a pedestal you can move back as far as needed.
I have a 27" LCD in my cab and I wouldn't want it any bigger.
You might get away with a 32" if you tilt it back and have a deep control panel.

If there is an arcade auction near you, you might be able to get a showcase cab or just the pedestal portion cheap.

It's expensive in my opinion, but it would save you the woodworking.

I bought one for $20 a while back on a gamble that it might have a good monitor (turned out to be missing the monitor chassis) and I literally couldn't give the thing away. I ended up stripping the few useful parts out of it and burning the rest.
