Title: VGA cable hack
Post by: EwJ on May 18, 2013, 04:43:43 pm
Hi, can anyone help with a VGA cable hack?

I used Ultimarc guideref Ultimarc (http://www.ultimarc.com/monfaq.html#monitorcable) and came up with:

* R, G, and B wires from pin 1, 2, and 3 going to their own sockets in a terminal strip.  (see pic)

* V and H Sync from pin 14 and 13 are joined together in the terminal strip.

* GROUNDS for RGB (which, for this particular cable, is one wire to pin 6 which is bridged to Pin 7 and 8 as well), the Sync GROUND from pin 10, the GROUND on pin 5 (general ground for cable to vidcard ports?, etc?) and the aluminum-foil-like cable shielding all connected together to their own socket in the terminal strip.  *the ground for pin5 IIRC was joined to the outer part of the socket that mates to vid card socket outer part (the metal around the socket with the screws to secure cable to card).-->does this ground have to be separate from the other grounds for the RGB pins, sync pins, etc?

Can/do all those grounds go together?
