I just got some new Side Art for my Baby Pac, whose sides appear to be made of yellow laminate of some type. The old stickers are on there remarkably well. I know once I get the stickers off I should use some kind of glue remover to get all that crap off. But how should I start getting the vinyl part up? I seem to remember somone telling me that to get bumper stickers off cars to use a hair dryer to heat it up? anyone know if this is a good idea?
Thanks in advance.

Hair dryer or heat gun would help.
You could try a adhesive remover like oops or goof off. These will get under the edge of the sticker and usually can be used with a razor blade very effectively. Though you should test these products in a less conspicous area to make sure it doesn't hurt the finish around it.

As far as getting sticky residue off afterward give wick-lighter (a.k.a. Zippo) fuel a shot. It's not butane like a regular lighter or kerosene, it comes in a little yellow squeeze bottle. The stuff is like rocket fuel and works wonders as a solvent.

Heat the old decal with a hair dryer and use either a single edge razor blade or putty knife under the decal to lift it.
Once the decal is off you use MEK (Methyl Ethyl Ketone) to remove the sticky old adhesive.

Electronic Contact Cleaner works really well on sticker residue and does NOT discolor plexiglass/lexan like any orange-based ones.
Use either the "GB" brand (mainly black spray can with red and white letters) or "LPS" brand (mainly green with white and black and red). About $4.99 to $11.99 depending on where you find it. I prefer the LPS stuff myself but is usually more expensive and harder to find.
Make sure you get "electronic" not "electric"... Electronic is for circuit board use, Electric is for like cars and big machines.
Also works great to polish game cartridge edge contacts, fix nintendo game unit slots, and loads of other uses. Removing sticker goo is just a side benefit.

isn't MEK rather toxic?

I've been using MEK for years to strip control panel adhesives off. Just have adequate ventillation and no smoking. Lighter fluid also works but may be slower to take the sticky off.
