Hi Everyone,
I LOVE Point Blank. There is a guy selling Point Blank 2 about 3 hrs drive from where I live. Here is his description and photo (attached).
For Sale Point Blank 2 in 32"? cabinet
machine is complete including the plastic screen cover
screen has a small picture (unwatchable) needs fixing as per youtube link Point Blank 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odTiO-mA_RM#)
has 2 guns
microcoin mech
think LAI cabinet
game sounds ok carnt play as screen
Would be cheaper to put a 32" lcd with convrter in
for a 20 year old machine its not bad
I am really keen to buy this (it is currently sitting on $100 and could go up)
I have a few questions.
1. The youtube video doesn't really show much. How do I know that it is actually the monitor that is broken? Could it be something wrong with the graphics?
2. If the monitor is broken, how easy is it to replace?
3. Should I buy another arcade monitor or will a 32" LCD be OK? Or maybe it won't work with the light guns because it is an LCD?
Thanks

Your best bet is to talk to the seller and see if you can visit him. Go wish Cash and if the condition is good, offer him cash on the spot to "take it off" his hands. If we're talking original arcade monitor it could be very expensive to replace so keep that in mind. If you convert it to a tube TV you would need to update the guns to Aimtrack or something equivalent. If you go to an LCD/LED you would also need an equivalent Aimtrack setup.
Is it worth it? This all comes down to you and how you feel about the game. In most cases a shell with no working monitor but a working game and components is worth $50-200 depending on the game. Just don't forget a working monitor may cost you 200-700 depending on where you get it and what condition it's in.

Thanks for your reply
I won't get a chance to look at it before the auction finishes. I wouldn't even know what to look for (to see if it is a new monitor or something else that is broken).
I would be happy to spend a couple of hundred to get it working - but it obviously could be over $1000 if there are multiple things wrong with it...what to do, what to do ???

Hold out. It's not an uncommon cab and if you're not comfortable/familiar with monitor repair wait for a working one. May take a few months but one will pop in your area.

its a common cabinet but DAMN is the game fun. I picked up PB2 with the recoil guns (recoil not working) in a lethal enforcers 25" mirrored cabinet for $200. Everything was working. maybe you can use that story as a bargaining tool.
