Played some Joust yesterday. Was pleased with myself just to survive on a few of the survival waves.

it's told that Lon will be starting another 120 million point run at 2 pm cdt (15mins from now).
That's around 45 hrs to hit the 100 million threshold, and about 55hrs to reach his goal.

great time to learn some Joust tips from the Master.  :)

I have a bastardized Joust in a Robotron cabinet running a jROK board and I can't even hit one million, much less 100.

They are not allowed to sit during that marathon? I suppose it's harder to play that way, but you think it would serve you better to change positions after X amount of hours.

He was sitting. Lon seems to be suffering from a lingering back issue.

good day.

Except in the default score table, I don't recall every seeing anything but '0' in the ones place. How the hell do you score single integers?

I'm not sure what you are referencing, but here is a bit of interesting history directly from the programmer, Bill P.

"And I do remember using the default high score to indicate ROM versions. It was an easy way to identify the ROM's without opening the cabinet. I probably forgot to change the default high score when we did the Pterodactyl fix (we were in a hurry....).
I think that I constructed the score by a version and something else that I do not remember so:
        High score 107212 = V1.07 ?212?
        High score 109102= V1.09  ?102?"  - Pfutz, May 2013

Lon is back at it.  3rd marathon attempt to get the World record at 107 million, and hopefully reach 120 million.
He started yesterday afternoon and if all goes well will finish up tomorrow night.

Come cheer him on,  http://www.twitch.tv/lmcdonald111 (http://www.twitch.tv/lmcdonald111)

Hmm. I caught it just now at wave 80 and watched a little bit. The streaming kind of blows, very stop-start-y, and glitchy: at the end of 80 or 81, the bottom-middle platform melted way, he was at 500k, and then a wave or two more and there was a quick switch to the side view, and then back and the bottom platform was back, and he was over 600k.

yah, i don't know what's up with the stream.  Many have complained about the new style.  too bad, he is still playing so I presume he'll make it this time.

from Lon's reply on KLOV:

Most don't know I suffer from a ruptured disc c 6-7. When I get about 70-80 million in the pain gets fun.
The weight of the head and the angle of the screen comes more and more in play.
From 70 million on my wife was placing ice on my neck as my internal body temperature was raising.
At 75 I was loosing feeling in the tips of my fingers and couldn't tell how hard I was flapping.

The machine was playing fine.
The body was fighting my mental will to continue.

Body 3 mind 0
