Will a 250 watt rowe amp work in a R-91 that had a 130 watt amp

Yes you can fit a 250 watt amplifier, however I would suggest that you put the phono speakers on a lower tapping on the output package, down to E4 or E3 on both channels and for the full output use extension speakers.

Thank you.Can you tell me if the plugs will be the same.The amp is out of a R-90.Also,if the transistors in the amp are bad will this make the volume not work and have distortion in the sound of the speakers

Yes, it should be interchangeable.
As for the static. Are you getting static out of both channels or just one? Also, check the fuses on the driver board. If they are blown, then is it most likely the transistors.

Static is more out of one then the other.The fuses are all good

It sounds like a transistor is failing (not completely shorted yes). I would try a new set of 2n6284 and 2n6287 transistors. My advice would be to stay away from E-bay; you run the risk of counterfeits. Buy them from reputable places such as Mouser or Future Electronics.

I replaced all 4 transistors and now it sounds 100% better but it is still about half way with volume.I can not change the volume higher or lower.If I turn the volume knob it gets just a little louder but not much. What would be the next step to try
