I'm in the middle of doing some maintenance on an older cabinet and getting it ready to run off of a PlayStation 2. I've searched around, but haven't seen any suggestions for powering a console inside a cabinet. The best idea I've had so far is to put a power strip inside the cabinet, drill a hole in the cabinet to plug the power strip in at and pick up a shorter power cable for the cabinet itself. That way the power cable on the outside of the cabinet goes right through the hole and plugs into the power strip inside. The PlayStation 2 would also plug into the strip and the power cable would be run to the front of the machine to power the console.
Is there a cleaner solution to this? Ideally one that wouldn't require me to put an extra hole into the cabinet.

You could do what I did. I got a powerstrip, cut off the end and tapped into the existing power cord.

Any more info on that or a photo of yours Brian? There's a power module right where the power cord plugs into the cabinet so I'm not entirely sure that would work in my case.
