Given that one man's trash is another man's MAME cabinet, I wanted to make sure there was no lingering value whatsoever to this before I got rid of it. It's a 19" standard res monitor tube, just the tube, no neck board, no Anode, I think the degaussing coil is still on there, which I will squirrel away for later use. The tube has Reactor burned in pretty well (You can still read "gottlieb" from the attract screen clear as day). I've got another 19" PC monitor that I'm going to mount in the frame, but unless anyone can think of a use for the tube, it's going in the trash. Anything I'm not thinking of?

Does it still have the yoke? If so, carefully remove the yoke clamp and slide it off (keeping the clamp, yoke, and magnetic purity rings..just in case you ever need them on another tube/chassis), remove any taped/glued-on strips of metal encased in plastic/rubber [beam bending magnets] and anything else small but removable from the tube. In fact, the black pin protector surrounding the pins if the glue is dry and brittle it should pop right off. Keep these around if you ever need them. They don't take much space and are totally inert, unlike the tube.
Toss the tube (preferably putting it in a can 25' away and breaking the back of the neck letting the vaccum out to prevent imposion by the trash collector if you can indeed throw it some areas, like mine, require you to take it to a hazardous waste facility and pay them to take it.)
BTW--a 19" computer monitor, is actually too small to put into the frame. If it has the right mounting ears, it may just barely fit. But a 19" monitor is only 18" viewable. An arcade 19" monitor is larger and the frames are built for that (20" outside corner to corner)

So remove everything I can, break the vacuum without killing myself, and throw it away. (I'm pretty sure they'll let me throw it away here, plenty of people throw out TVs and suchlike around here). Got it.
And I think my monitor will fit, or possibly be too large, I was calling it a 19" monitor because I was measuring the viewable at the thrift shop. But when I looked up the monitor online they list it as a 21" tube. But the horizontal measurements seem to match. I'll know better when I get home tonight.

wrap it up very well in an old blanket then beat the crap out of it--that way if it does explode (this is a possibility) you won't get glass everywhere.--the other nice thing is you get to break something to relieve any frustration you may have had towards it ;D

A 21" PC monitor tube should be a fairly good fit in a 19" arcade monitor frame. They will usually flex a bit, which (the frame, not the tube), which should give you at least a little leeway.

Unfortunately, the frame is just an inch too short to fit the tube (Curse you, Sony, and your Trinitrons!). Hopefully I can still fit it in the cabinet, but I didn't have the will to carry the monitor down to the cabinet to try it last night. It's gonna be a tight fit, I'm afraid.
