Hi all,
new to the forum but I was wondering if anyone would be interested in buying some 29" MultiSync CRTs i ended up with not too long ago. I thought I was just purchasing 1 but apparently it was for a lot of 4.
I've been using one in particular but the other 3 boot up fine. I hear that the XM29plus model is suppose to be better but I havent had any problems with the XM29. On the RGB/VGA side it seems to handle any display resolution I throw at it. All of the Soft15khz resolutions seem to work just fine, even the 25khz and 31khz resolutions, but it also goes as high as 1024x768. There are also s-video and RCA hookups that work with ntsc pal and secam, so you can really hookup any system, but the best quality is going to come from the VGA and the RGBHV component hookups. Theres also a number of dipswitches and serial port for controlling most settings, both of which are documented to great detail in the manual.
Now I'd like to get 100 bucks a piece ...the only problem is transportation. These things aren't huge, but they are heavy (about 150 pounds each), so shipping them would be a nightmare, so it would have to be local pick up only.
Anyway if anyone is interested and willing to make a trip to boston, please let me know. I can try to post pictures when I get a chance.

Overall they are in pretty good shape, both are extremely dusty but nothing that a little cleaning session won't fix. Monitor 2 does have a few scratches along the sides. and monitor 3 just has a bad of paint on the top (probably removable with nail polish or something) I wasn't able to take pictures of 3 because the flash on the camera exhausted the battery (should have charged before heading out), but all 3 seem to be in working order (I'll try to do another run and capture photos of it this week).
Now for the bad news. It seems the controllers for all 3 of these have gone missing. The good news is that replacement controllers are available online. But the controllers are vital components so I've decided to drop the price of the monitors to 80 dollars.

Where in the Boston area? I might be interested in one and am local.

I have them at my brother's who is on the boarder of Hyde Park and Dedham, its a about 15-20 from the city (depending on how you drive).
Feel free to reach me at g_charlie84@yahoo.com to discuss specifics.
In the mean time, tonight I'm planning on hooking up the one I have at my place and posting pictures of what these puppies are capable of.
I'll post pictures of the other three when I get a chance to ride out to their location

just snapped a few shots... dont think they do it justice, but I loaded up Bangia-O for the dreamcast which is one of the reasons why I looked into getting a multiSync monitor. You see Bangai-O was just one of those dreamcast games that dont work with a VGA box; just s-video and rca ...SCART if you happen to be in Europe. But with something like a MultiSync CRT you can rig up a ghetto RGB/HV cable and get a pure crisp 15khz signal. No more blurry gross picture quality.
Ill try to post more and figure out better way to captur with the camera i have...

I don't need any more monitors like these, but I just wanted to offer an opinion. They are a fantastic monitor for those who are looking for more authentic images, along with the ability to display higher resolutions. A lot of the "presentation" monitors out there are not true multi-sync, but these appear to be the real deal. Mine are all Mitsubishi, but NEC is great name as well.
Lightgun game aficionados looking for a display for consoles connected via RGB, with true light guns, should take note of these as well. If you can lift them, they are a steal at $100. :)

bangai-0 is "one of those games" :banghead:
and +1 for these monitors. these are amazing and I had one years ago for my mamecast cabinet. it was about as perfect as a monitor gets.

The NEC XM and XP models are kIller. Buy 'em while you can boys, and the shipping is worth it. I've shipped cross-country a few 27" and 25" monitors (mostly cased presentation monitors) each for under a hundred bucks, including packing (Uhaul 27" TV box), via Fedex.

Thanks for the endorsements guys! Yeah the shots I took really dont do the picture quality justice. I'm not totally opposed to shipping but at the moment I just dont have time to set all that up. But yeah definitely worth having for any one with a mame machine or anybody willing to rig up RGB cables for their consoles (gameSX.com is an excellent resource).
Anyway, I'm almost definitely going to ride out to my brothers this saturday (where I'm storing them). So photos to come, stay tuned :)

Maybe I know what to look for, but I think them pictures show exactly what's needed to see. Nice.
I see you're using an adapter - VGA to component?
-
Do you have any of these still available? I have been looking for one for a couple of years now! Please let me know hopefully we can work something out.

These sound amazing.. I had looked for one of these for quite some time and gave up looking. If it'd fit in a Golden Tee Fore! Cabinet it's exactly what I'm looking for.
I doubt you've still got these, but if you do let me know.
