I've come across this marquee in my travels and really like the idea behind this one. I think the backlit neon font/colours would look great but I'd want to use the font and remove the curve/music lines - anyone any idea what font it is and where I could get it?
I came across it in a Google image search on this site http://ready-up.net/2011/10/19/arcade-dreams-part-one/. (http://ready-up.net/2011/10/19/arcade-dreams-part-one/.) It's by Scott Cameron but I couldn't find any contact details or even page 2 of his project!

Hi, long time lurker turned first time poster...
The font you're looking for is called Eclectic Crumpany by Nick's Fonts. http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/nicksfonts/eclectic-crumpany-nf/ (http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/nicksfonts/eclectic-crumpany-nf/)
Scratch the above... (I love a good font challenge)! Anywhoooo, after a little more searching, the correct font would be Elektrik, which is obviously the original font that the first link I mentioned was based off of.
I'm sorry about that.

Thank you :-)

:-[ Don't thank me yet, as I'm not entirely convinced of it's accuracy. It is however, the closest I could find. I'm sure there has to be more variants of the characters included in that set though.
EDIT: SEE post #2

I think its the same, its certainly close enough - I didn't need to be exact just very similar neon tube style. I found a very similar free version too (Eklektic-Normal) - http://www.fonts2u.com/eklektic-normal.font. (http://www.fonts2u.com/eklektic-normal.font.)
WARNING!: It's an exe and tries to install toolbars and so on so be very careful with your answers/ticks/Cancels if anyone chooses to extract it. I got the tff and no nasty toolbars though so it is possible!

It would seem the free font I've now got is the second one you mention anyway!
How do you search/find fonts - I know there are sites that do such things - which do you use?

and finally, Elektrik regular from http://www.font-db.com/font/elektrik-regular/33508/download (http://www.font-db.com/font/elektrik-regular/33508/download) which is a zip file and no exe downloader.
All very similar and an EXACT copy I wasn't concerned with, just the neon light look really of this font.

This is how Eklektric-normal (top) and Elektric-regular (bottom) look so I'd assume they are the same font, renamed over time!
What do people thing - a good look for the marquee title? I expect to have it as a bright red neon colour (or the mixed like in the first post if I can do that) with the glow look also. The background will be a starlit sky on black. Around it will be DG's at a 45 degree angle across the top of the ARCADE title, with drop shadow in the same font, but smaller. Images of classic arcade games around and in the letters etc. with a great ready-brek glowing Space Invaders that's been done for me as well as Donkey Kong, Galaga, Out Run and the like...
(thanks to DrNick here for much of the work that's already been done on this, I'm essentially just moving around/changing fonts on what he's done to get it how my minds eye sees it looking !)

Actually, the Eclectic font I posted first, as designed by Nick's fonts, is a remake of sort to the original, which is titled Elektrik and designed in 1977 by VGC. I had done a little more research and found the correct type, then afterwards I crossed out the original post and added the updated info.

If you study the two fonts carefully, you'll see quite a few characters that differ. Nick's Eclectic font had a different shaped E that I noticed shortly after posting the link, which is why I had to go back and correct it. I should have invested a few more minutes in identifying. ;)
As for searching fonts, I have a few catalogs and websites that I use for identification, but I also have a huge collection of commercial type fonts that I've gathered over the years, both free and retail. Some people collect baseball cards or stamps, I collect fonts. 8)
