Title: I apologize in advance, Q about a hard mod xbox and coin-ops 5
Post by: Lucky Rockmore on April 17, 2013, 01:22:42 pm
I did try doing a search here but Im just not coming up with anything so, Im hoping someone can point me in the right direction for a tutorial on how to install a bigger hard drive on my xbox to run emulators for a cab of mine. Im new to modding and am very interested in the Coin-ops 5 emulator too, so once again, if anyone can point me out in the right direction it be immensly appreciated! if the project gets to be too much, does anyone know of someone who can do this as a service?( larger harddrive install and coin-ops 5 emulator), thanks again everyone!!

YouTube has tons of videos on this topic. Here is one to get you started. I haven't watched it, but it has tons of links and a lengthy video description. Might be a good one to watch.

I have tried to do this too. I know there is a Linux program you have to get to lock the hdd. You also need a compatible hdd. Here is a link to the list. http://xboxdrives.x-pec.com/?p=list

Thanks guys, I posted the same question on the consoles forum because I wasnt getting responses here yesterday,
However, Ive decided on not doing a soft mod, because this xbox is gonna be the centerpiece of my arcade cabinet, so Id like to get the bigger harddrive and most comprehensive emulator(at this point it looks like coin-ops 5). The only other question I have is, am I going to need a mod chip in the console?

If you are not softmodding then you have no choice but to use a modchip.  These are getting harder and harder to find though.  You would probably do better looking for a premodded xbox on craigslist/ebay or whatever.
