Does anyone have experience with the J-Pac PlayStation 2 adapter that can lend some help? I've been unable to pinpoint the issue, but my arcade inputs are not being received by the PlayStation 2.
I have a Slim PlayStation 2 connected to the J-Pac adapter with both controller ports plugged in. From there it's connected to the J-Pac at the PC KB / USB input and then the JAMMA harness plugs into the J-Pac. If I plug the P/S2 cable to connect the J-Pac to my PC I am able to capture input from the arcade cab controls within WinIPAC, so no issues there. I've also programmed the J-Pac with a control scheme based off of the PlayStation 2 adapter reference list on the Ultimarc website.
For some reason those controls aren't passed back to the PlayStation 2 adapter when I have it hooked up. The adapter is functioning to some extent since it is powering the J-Pac as it should. I also have two PlayStation 2 control adapters for the J-Pac - I've tested both and they both have the same results. They power the J-Pac without receiving any control inputs.
Have I missed a step or something? Is there any additional testing I can do to help pinpoint the problem?

I have a j-pac and the ps2/gc/wii adapter. Even though it pretty much requires a 6-button CP (mine is 4), I have tested it with a ps2 and the default j-pac keymap. I can use the "Start" button and directional controls. "Select", however requires SW5, so I can't get any further with my 4 button JAMMA setup.
My j-pac has two kb connectors, I have it hooked up to the kb/usb side. The ps2 side did nothing.
Did you download a custom keymap to the j-pac? I thought the matrices on Andy's website were the default.

The matrices outlined on the site are the default mappings. I didn't download any custom key configurations to the J-Pac. I used the utility to test and make sure that inputs were being recognized by the J-Pac and they were. I reprogrammed the J-Pac with the default map in hopes that that might somehow fix the problem - it was worth a shot.
I haven't wired the kick harness for buttons 4-6 since I'm first trying to fix the issue with the PlayStation 2 not receiving any input data.
I sent an email over to Andy and I'm waiting on another response. He said they had discovered some faulty controller adapters in the past, but the two I have are from later 2006 / early 2007 so I'm unsure if mine fall in during a time that there may have been a production fault. When I first got the J-Pac and PlayStation 2 adapters I was using them to test and calibrate an arcade cab without a game so I never wired controls to the PlayStation 2 via the control adapter, I just used the console's A/V output. I had a CPS-III game in the cab until last night when I decided to swap it out for the PlayStation 2 to play some other fighting games.
I'm hoping that I'm either missing something or they may be from a faulty batch. Buying a new controller adapter one isn't a problem if it will fix the issue, but the two I have now are giving me identical problems.

I find it odd that the test works, but nothing seems to be making it to the console itself. Have you tested the PS2 with a sony PS2 controller? If you have, and it works, then it seems likely your issue is with the adapter.
Good luck.

The console works with a controller plugged in so no problem there.
Thanks again for the info and troubleshooting recommendations. Hopefully Andy will have some more information. It'd be great if I got a replacement since I have two faulty ones, but it's been so long since I bought the adapters that I'm not opposed to buying a new one if it comes to that.

I purchased my adapter about a month ago.
Clarification - SW5 is default mapped to the sony ps2 controller "O" button. Sadly, I need this in order to set my copy of DoDonPachi Dai-Ou-Jou to tate mode in my vert oriented cab.
Yes, I could set my own keymap to get it running, but my j-pac has to pull double duty for a pc, which means I would then have to keep track of multiple keymaps, and quite honestly, that's too much trouble for me right now. Maybe later.
I'm sure Andy will take care of you.

In case anyone else runs into this, the old ICs in the adapters were the issue. I sent the adapters back to Andy and he swapped the ICs for the new ones. Just got them in the mail today and they work with the slim model PlayStation 2 now.
