Title: Mounting Zippy Short Shaft Joystick into Wood
Post by: gibbbotron09 on April 12, 2013, 02:07:01 pm
Hello all,

I am currently working on the CP of my arcade and have gone the MameRoom (North Coast Custom Arcades) route because of my inexperience in construction. I have Zippy Short Shaft Joysticks I ordered from Groovy Game Gear. I went with the short shaft because I just didn't like that games' feel with the long shaft because of the throw.

The wood of the MameRoom panel is approximately 2cm thick. The joystick shaft is about 23mm long.

Any tips on how to mount these? I'm hoping to mount under that panel and will most likely route the wood until it is 10mm thick where the joystick will be mounted. I will use 4 of GGG's mounting kits as well.

Does this sound like a good plan?

Thank you very much! :)

EMDB did a great job on shallow undermounting here (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,130690.msg1347104.html#msg1347104).

He over-engineered it with 10  :o  inserts when 4 would do just fine, but his example has great photos.
