Don't know if it is real or not but it does play and has alot of sounds in the data file. Have to wait on expert opinions from those in the know.
-
Just fired it up and played a round.
Controls:
C - Coin
1 - Start
Arrow keys - Joystick directions
Z - Jump
X - Fix
One odd thing that happened is that the first time I played, after completing the first 1 level -- when Ralph is thrown off the building -- it went to the kill screen, but that may have been a random thing since it didn't kill screen the next time. :dunno

Interesting...anyone have an idea of who might be behind the leak, if it is real?
Edit: Here is the info popup on the game.
-
Don't know who leaked it, but the "About" window credits www.codemystics.com (http://www.codemystics.com) and this (http://www.nytimes.com/2012/10/28/movies/how-wreck-it-ralph-revisits-retro-video-games.html?_r=0) NY Times article from October 2012 mentions that Code Mystics "developed a playable version of Fix-It Felix Jr. with a basic story".

I assume this version wont run under mame as it's an exe file.
Some of the sound samples aren't there, like "I'm gonna wreck it", the iPad version is still the best so far in my opinion, just can run it on mame :hissy:

MAME emulates hardware. This has always been a PC game.
To emulate it, MAME would have to emulate the PC hardware it ran on (and would probably run at a few frames per second).
Much easier just to run it directly on your PC.
There are workarounds to make it show up in your MAME gamelist if you are running Hyperspin or Mala.

mame and mess have x86 support. It's pretty dismal though.

So here's the rundown:
- From what we can tell, it's real. It's not the "final" version, it's missing some sound effects and the highscore at the top doesn't change, etc.
- It won't run fullscreen if it's not rotated into vertical mode. Rotate 90 then click fullscreen
- FixitFelixJr.exe -rotate=90 -fullscreen will start the game in fullscreen (vertical ONLY)
- Create a folder called "Screenshots" under it. Hit F7 during gameplay for screenshots. (note, they don't come out correctly unless you're fullscreen
- There are some weird network/server based options, not sure what they do if anything.
- DEFINITELY don't link to it or distribute it on this forum.

Just so you know, there are no speech effects in the actual arcade version. Just speech bubbles with the words. The "Fix it Felix!!", "HeY, you moved my stump! ERRRRR" and "I'm gonna wreck it" sound effects were added to the movie for effect.

There is a "multiple emus in one list" sticky in the Mala forum.
Be prepared to read the entire thread and wrap your mind around the concepts to get it to work.
Basically, you create a batch file that launches a different emulator based on what path the rom was found in, then substitute that batch file for mame.exe
(roms must be removed from the MAME folder if they are not to be launched in MAME).
It's nice because Mala still pulls all the game info (including rotation and joystick info!) from mame.xml and the images from the mame folders.
If you want to add games that aren't in MAME, you just add an xml entry for them.
I posted an earlier version of my batch file in this thread:
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,121157.msg1285434.html#msg1285434 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,121157.msg1285434.html#msg1285434)
I haven't used Hyperspin more than doing a basic MAME setup to see if I liked it any better than Mala.
I remember seeing posts about people integrating Daphne games into their Hyperspin MAME list, so I know it's possible.
-
You can do it in Hyperspin. I was going to post a link, but I don't think the forums are public. Try this, though:

definitely cool..although not very cabinet friendly just yet. I'd love to have this on my mame cabinet, however it needs to be run full screen in landscape mode (i don't want it stretched, but black bars would be nice) and I need to be able to change the controls. hopefully someone will get on that.
-
on the klov thread someone has looked through the code.
made a couple of new sound wav files with soundbytes from movie, etc.
-
A very useful thread:

Includes the modified samples with voices for Ralph and Felix.

I made an AutoHotKey file to change the controls to match my setup and its perfect. I just activate it before launching the game and stop it when I'm done playing. You just type in what each key should be. For example, if your 3 key is used for coin but the game wants the C key for coin, you would add this to the script:
3::c

I had it for a while, but I am waiting for a much better one to come out. ;D
