Title: X-Arcade modifications
Post by: midgetradio on April 08, 2013, 09:10:06 pm
Hey all,  been lurking on these forums for a while now.  I got an old Atari racing cabinet I'm gutting and turning into a MAME cab.  I know most of you would recommend I build my own control panel, but its just not in the stars right now.  I've been looking at the X-Arcade, but it looks like its just a quarter inch too big to fit in the cabinet as it is right now.  I'm wondering if anyone has ever tried to reshape the X-Arcade control panel at all... maybe just shave a little off the sides?  Thanks all!

There is lots of space for the control panel surface to be trimmed as shown by the attached picture.   The box underneath is not as easy but could be altered if required as long as the buttons fit inside the altered box this will be very close but you could get a quarter inch my just reducing the side panels by that amount or alternately bringing them in by that amount.

Thanks Bob.  I heard the X-Arcade was made out of wood, but I wasn't sure how easy it would be to modify it.  It'd be difficult to modify the side panels on the cabinet itself without screwing up the t-molding.
