Title: PAC MAN on the fritz, can anyone point me in the right direction
Post by: orion on April 08, 2013, 07:59:39 pm
My Pac Man is dead, and my four year old kid is on a Wreck it Ralph kick, and wants it fixed! Lol! I don't have much experience repairing boards. It won't boot and the image matches nothing here. http://www.arcadegameover.com/pactrouble.html (http://www.arcadegameover.com/pactrouble.html). Below is a picture of the screen. Any ideas? Thanks!

Cleaned and reseated all the chips, replaced the z-80, the SBC, and the v ram. Nada. Could be these replacements are bad as they came from another dead board. If no suggestions, I guess I'll try replacing caps next... Just out of curiosity. What's the difference between the board type v ram and the JROK2003?

Fixed it, if anyone's interested. It was one of the video chips on row 4. Funny thing is I already reseated them a couple of times and I didn't replace anything. I just changed up the order of the identical chips in that row and it fired right up.. Go figure.
