I have one of these HP LP2065 LCD 4:3 Monitors, which can do the following refresh rates:
Horizontal frequency: 30-94 kHz (VGA), 30-92 kHz (DVI)
Vertical frequency: 48-85 Hz (VGA), 30-92 kHz (DVI)
I am wondering what settings i should use in GroovyMame ini file to best suit this monitor, as i dont think id want to treat it as a normal LCD monitor??...because of the range of refresh rates?. In this instance if i was to use the normal LCD settings then i would be forcing all games to run at 60hz to maintain the 100% speed but with this LCD i believe i do not need to do this as it does lower than usual refresh rates for an LCD monitor.

Hi lettuce,
Just specify the vertical refresh working range, like this:
lcd_range 54-61
This will cover 99% of games.
Then enable the Powerstrip option:
powerstrip 1
Without Powerstrip, you will only be able to use the default 60 Hz frequency, even if you enable the lcd_range option.

Hmm Mortal Kombat is reporting 110% speed?
-
Is your card fully supported by Powerstrip?
-
Ah right, Powerstrip wasnt running, thought it was. Ok now i have powerstrip running when i start Mortal Kombat, the monitor goes into sleep mode, but i cant hear the game still. Any ideas?

But the rest of games play good, do they? Your tnmt log looks fine.
Try rtype, donpachi, dspirit.

None of them work including Mortal Kombat....but final fight does!?.......

What's your setup exactly? What's on your \\.\DISPLAY1 and \\.\DISPLAY2? Do you have two monitors attached? What resolutions on each?
-
I think its powerstrip causing an issue!?
I have 2 monitors connected, display 2 (mame) is 1920x1200 (or though this is my main monitor and windows is reporting this as display 3) and display 1 (mame) is 1600x1200 (windows reports this as display 2

Ok, this might be due to Powerstrip not supporting your card. You have a HD 6xxx card. As far as I know, support is only documented up to HD 5xxx: http://forums.entechtaiwan.com/index.php?topic=2036.0 (http://forums.entechtaiwan.com/index.php?topic=2036.0)
I thought Powerstrip might be targeting the wrong output, but in your logs you can clearly see how it takes the 1600x1200 timings, so it's doing it right, it seems.
Just to be 100% sure, I'd test this with only the target monitor attached, and using it as the primary (desktop) monitor. By the way, are you using digital or analog outputs? I'd test this with a VGA cable in case your trying with DVI.
When working with Powerstrip, maka sure you have the key shortcuts enabled. In particular, make sure CTRL + ALT + S is working. This is used to restore the default safe settings, in case you mess things up. I need to use this from time to time when doing tests.

Well i get a display it i force mame to display on my main monitor, it just doesnt appear to work if i force mame to use the 2nd display (HP LP2065). Im having to use a DVI to DVI cable as there are only DVI sockets on the HP LP2065 and my GFX card
