They are games that supposedly allow 3 or more players to play simultaneously but I have yet to find a rom that allows it. I have downloaded a variety of Mystic Warriors and Captain America/Avengers and have only been able to play 2 players sim. at most. Is there some step or BIOS I am missing or did they just not get translated to MAME?

make sure you are playing the 4 player rom (if that applies) and that the dipswitches are set to 4 player. Any issues with TMNT or Xmen?

That's what I mean. I can't find a 3-4 player version of any of these games. I have plenty of 3-4 player games that work and I found with no problem like X-men, TMNT, Knights of the Round, Snow Bros. 2, etc.. But for some reason there are a few games that supposedly are 3-4 player possible games but I just can't find the rom for them that allows it. That's why I wondered if there just never got to mame or if something else is needed?

Looks like you need to toggle the dipswitch in MAME for 4 player mode. Bank 2 switch 6.

AVP is either a dip setting, or in game menu setting, I forget which exactly. This is one reason why I love LEDBlinky. When I was first setting up my 4 player machine, I'd scroll through the games and the controls would preview light up showing me which games were 3-4 players. If I started a 3 or 4 player game (as indicated by the controls), but it only allowed 2 players to start, usually the number of players could be changed in the dip settings or in game menu (Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon comes to mind too).

There is a dip switch setting in the tab mame menu? Thanks I will try it. So I would just select on for the multiple 1-4 players and is this a change I do to the specific roms or is it like the input change that can be general to all roms?

AFAIK you have to do that on a 1 by 1 basis.

Nice does it save. And one quick question. You said dip switch or in game menu? I now know where to find the dip switch menu but what do you mean in game menu?

you can hit F2 to go into service mode/menu if there isnt a dipswitch setting there might be a CMOS setting.

Thanks so much. This weekend I was able to try it and I managed to get a lot more games to 3-4 player mode. Thanks you so much, I learned so much more about MAME and can play some games I wanted to so badly with more players.
I have one last question. It's a little off topic. The frontend I use is Mala and I have Final Burn Alpha for 4 games (SFIII, Jojo's Adventure, MvC and SNK vs Capcom). These games only show the rom zip shorthand name and not the full name like the mame files. I tried to use Romlister to make a list for Mala but the list only shows up under mame and not for FBA. I have no clue how to show/edit the full rom names on Mala?

I use MAME for those games so Im no help, but glad you got the games working. I only mentioned CMOS and Dip because depending on hwo you have certain games set up, like NBA Jam, it can use one or the other.
