I'm not sure that previous compiled versions of MESS are available.  The source is available, though, which is all you need to generate your own.

http://www.mamedev.org/oldrel.html (http://www.mamedev.org/oldrel.html)  It is easy to do and does not take long.  If you want help with compilation, say so, and I or someone else will assist you.

MESS has seen massive improvements over the last few years, unless you have a very specific reason to want an older version (something broke) then it's certainly a project where you're best sticking with what's current.

Anyway, I released an 'ultimate MAME' build for 0.144 (before it was known as UME and part of the official project)
http://mamedev.emulab.it/haze/2011/11/15/ultimate-mame-0-144/ (http://mamedev.emulab.it/haze/2011/11/15/ultimate-mame-0-144/)

it may or may not do what you want, but does include the entire 0.144 MESS component.

keep in mind that being a legacy build it is now completely unsupported.
