Title: Question Regarding Ipac 4
Post by: Yourname942 on March 23, 2013, 03:38:31 pm
I need serious help, Idk why the player 3 and player 2 joysticks are configured as the same buttons:

up down left and right arrows . In WinIpac when I set them up for some reason it thinks that they are the same buttons.. Is there anything I can do so that I can play 4 player games without problems? Thanks.

Edit: For some reason when I try to program the joysticks it keeps setting player 1 and player 3 as up down left and right arrows.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Also the player 3 and player 4 buttons don't look activated in winipac unless it is the same as player 1 and 2...

Do you have the correct board selected under WinIPAC's Tools - Options menu?

what do you mean?

There was an ipac2 and ipac 4 option. I clicked ipac4.

OK, that's what I wanted to confirm.

Thought you might have selected the wrong board type since that might also cause the other problem (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,131269.0.html).   :dunno

With WinIPAC in Tools - Test Mode, does it see your button presses?

when i try to configure player 3's joystick it sets up as up arrow down as down arrow, left as left, and right as right.
the only problem is player 1 does the same.. so idk what to do. (bc as it is right now, player 1+3 have the same joystick inputs, and player 2+3 share the same inputs)

Launch WinIPAC - Pull-down-menus at top, click on "Tools", then on the top option "Test Mode".

EDIT: I'm running an earlier version of WinIPAC.  See below.

BINGO!!

That's the "legacy" version for pre-2004 IPac's.

I assume yours isn't that old.

Try downloading the newer version of WinIPAC here (http://www.ultimarc.com/download.html).

Also, test mode is now one of the icons in the upper right.

I'm running WinIPAC v 1.2.157 which still had the menus at the top instead of the icons that the current screencap shows.

You'll still probably need to de-conflict P2 Buttons 5-8 and P3 joystick directions and possibly a few others.

See here (http://www.ultimarc.com/ipac2.html) for a list of the IPAC default keys.
