First watch this:
DuckTales Remastered - Announcement Trailer [HD] (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6d1A2row6I#ws)
Yup that's pretty awesome. I'm not a fan of the whole paper Mario 2d/3d mix, but other than that.
But it makes me wonder who the target market is supposed to be for these games. Anybody that remembers Ducktales has to at least be 30. They tried this with TMNT 2 a few years ago, it bombed... probably because again, you'd have to be fairly old to remember the original. I saw in the news yesterday, that the He-man iOS game is now free due to lack of sales.
I'm not complaining, I like to see these old IPs getting some love, I just don't understand it from a business perspective.

They remastered TMNT2? That's probably the issue. Nobody knew.
This game looks great, but I have no desire to play what I considered a fairly easy game again (even at that age. 33 now.)

That looks great.
I loved that game. It was up there with Goof Troop.
Thanks

It was posted on every major gaming website TMNT Turtles in Time Re-Shelled.... I'm not sure how you could miss it unless you don't visiting gaming sites.

Damn Howard you beat me to it! ;D I found out about this originally from a friend who hasn't played a video game in well over 20 years, he loved Ducktales that much. And I enjoyed it quite a bit as well. But yeah, I see your point about the business of updating a game that may have a limited audience. I imagine being strictly a digital download does allow a little leeway in the budget to make niche titles like this.
I see they took Huey, Dewey and Louie out of the minecart you had to abandon as it plummets off the screen. The callousness of that always kind of bothered me in the original.

Getting the best-ending is the only real challenge; though admittedly, once you know the locations of the secret treasures (thank you Nintendo Power) then it's just a matter of going through the motions. I still enjoyed it as a 'breather' game.

Discussion/trailer, live play suggested of this game on http://www.twitch.tv/twitch (http://www.twitch.tv/twitch) at 13pax now

Well they've already stated that at least 30 percent of the levels is brand new, so I'm guessing it will make it a fairly fresh experience.

I imagine most people in our age bracket don't visit gaming sites.

Literally bounced the entire game on his cane. Did anywhere in the cartoon show this actually happen?
-
Well, I don't remember the show having Mrs. Beakley standing around in an african mine tossing ice cream cones in the air either. :lol

Ok, now I want to replay this

I got to see this in person at PAX and I have to say it looks really awesome. I didn't play it b/c the lines were running 2+ hours, but it really does look like a lot of fun, and instantly tug at my nostalgia for the original game.
The one real downside I see is they are pricing it at $15. I really think something like this should be $10, but it does look like they are putting a lot of work into it. I will pick it up once it goes on sale for sure. I'm also hoping they do this to the other Capcom-Disney games of the era.

:bump
This game will be released on August 13th.
The pre-order price is $15.

TMNT 2 didn’t do good because they made the game play, design and music all worse than the original.

I played the original NES version when it came out and enjoyed it immensely. So when I found they were remaking, or redoing it, I downloaded it day 1.
I thought it was great. It wasn't exactly the same game, thank The Lord. They changed it enough for it to be new and uped the ante in the challenging aspect. They also added the original voice actors along with an coherent story line that the original just didn't have.
For $15.00 it was well worth it in my opinion.
I'm a newb here by the way,

My problem is the timing. If this would have came out during the summer game drought it would have been an instant hit. But I'm currently stumbling through Pikim 3, Super Luigi U is out in disc form this weekend, and 101 Wind Waker HD and a slew of others are just around the corner.
It'll be a while before I can get to this one.

But I'm currently stumbling through Pikim 3
Not to get too far OT. How is Pik3 anyways? I almost shelled out for the WiiU for this title because I liked the first and second so much. Except I can't quite figure out what it is about the game that requires the WiiU that couldn't be doable on the Wii. Besides the WiiU touch screen.
Last time I bought a console just to play an exclusive title, I ended up with the Sega CD.

Duck Tales sucks then, sucks now.
I bought Enchanted Castle new back then. Remake was dreadful.

It's not a game for me, I regret buying it somewhat, but then again I didn't like the first two pikmin. I still managed to enjoy it once I got into it though, so I guess that makes it pretty good? It's basically like the first two except the time limits don't really penalize you this go around. The game defiantly looks better. It's an interesting art direction.... the stages themselves go for photorealism while the characters are drawn in a cartoonish style. It's almost like playing a augmented reality game.
You need a wiimote+nunchuck to play it... the gamepad is the worst of the control options BUT you still need the gamepad. What you do is sit it aside and it acts as your map. When you want to go somewhere you just click the location on the map and the currently selected squad will travel there automatically. Also while sliding around on the map the game on the tv shifts to this overhead view and as you move you can see parts of the level in real time.
I don't think the Wii U would have been required for this game, but it certainly makes sense to use the gamepad in the map fashion considering the gameplay mechanics. Oh and the bosses are huge. I don't think the Wii could have handled them.

Btw... back on topic although the Wii U/360/whatever version isn't down to 6 bucks, it's down to 7.50..... so yeah as I predicted this isn't exactly going to be a top seller.
I'm looking for a physical copy, which apparently exists.
