Title: Fast and good custom marquee printing in USA?
Post by: chopperthedog on March 19, 2013, 06:35:12 pm
After waiting 25 days for a single marquee from emdkay I inquired on the status and was given a "we hope to have it shipped in about 2 weeks" response. I decided to request a refund and seek out a different option. So who is doing marquee printing and laminating to plexi that won't take over a month and a half? Also USA based.

good day.

I just went to my local Kinko's and had them print on their special back-lit ready Mylar. It's a thin piece of plastic but after sandwiching that artwork between two pieces of 1/8" plexiglass, I was good to go. Cost was $30.

As an alternate solution, you might want to consider GameOnGrafix:

ditto for kinkos. The one I go to has savy graphics person who really knows their stuff. I handed them a usb chip with my artwork in a photoshop file and they were able to print it beautifully.
I also sandwiched mine between two pieces of plexi and recommend that method highly.

I'm giving GoG a try. The kinkos route isn't a bad idea, I'm just hoping for the extra money that it will be a better product i.e. being true black when back lit. After waiting for 3 1/2 weeks for TOG to ship 2 confirmed in stock items and the marquee BS, my first go round with these 2 vendors has left a strange taste in my mouth. C'mon GoG the ball is in your hands now, go for the gold!!

Game on Grafix has always done right by me.  Pretty quick too and great service.

This is not good.  I ordered a marquee from EMDKAY 21 days ago.  After seeing this topic I sent them an e-mail on status of my order.  I am guessing that I will be asking for a refund and going to the local Kinkos to get it done.

I know it is not an American company but SoulDraw.com was good to me.  They print for a fraction of what it would cost to get it here and the turnaround time was better as well.

I bought a marquee print from an ebay seller named digdug.  Happy with the quality, and got it fast and was a fair price.  All I would warn against, and it's not the end of the world, is to not mount with the backing as it's watermarked with the paper manufacturer's logo.

I got a reply from emdkay today, and sure enough, they said it would be another two weeks.  Their customer service definitely sucks.

So, I tried out Kinkos and was pleasantly surprised.  Print was done in a couple of hours and costed me only $8.  I am sure the quality may not have been as good as emdkay, but the kids I am building a bartop cab for won't notice the difference.  They'll just be happy to get it this week rather than wait another 2 weeks.

That's a shame that it is taking so long from this place. This is where I was going to get my marquee from, I guess I will be using gameongrafix.com (http://www.gameongrafix.com/) for the marquee then.

Long time lurker decided to register to chime in on this discussion. I been looking as well for a marquee for a bit now. I decided to go order from GoG after reading through this discussion. I ordered a 25 1/2in x 8in MvsC on 3/26/13. I just got an email today with a USPS tracking # included in it. I am extremely impressed so far. As for quality we shall see very soon. I will post pics once its arrived and i have installed it.

I've dealt with Gameongafix a few times and have been very pleased each time. I love the polcarbonite (or whatever it is) overlays, they are very durable.

I tried dealing with my local Kinkos for some artwork and found them incompetent but maybe thats just there

Received the marquee yesterday was able to slap it in and attach my marquee bracket, no muss no fuss. Print quality is very nice, no visible printer artifacts, re-sizing was perfect and even the small copyright text is crisp. I would use http://gameongrafix.com/ (http://gameongrafix.com/) again.

good day.

I also recently got one from gameongraphics...fast shipping, looks fantastic. My only complaint is the adhesive isn't very sticky, mine sometimes starts to peel off the lower corner edges from the Plexi. Same issue with their Control Panel, i had to use some Weldon's on it to get that one to stick at all.
Almost done with mine, just have to finish the Bezel.

I wonder if the sticking problem may be do to the finish that it's sticking to.
I have stuck one of their CPOs on painted mdf cp without a plexi cover and its held for years.
My most recent cp is metal and i also first painted it and then installed the CPI without a plexi cover and its holding great.
