Title: Newbie HELP !!!!
Post by: p.inett1 on March 16, 2013, 03:13:06 am
Hi my son and me would like to build an arcade machine.but not sure where to start.have a mate who's a good carpenter so cab build itself not to build .just need to decide what to build etc.
We have been looking at software mame etc and front ends we liked the look of hyperspin? Any views or help would be great.
Can you build one cab for shooting driving normal games ?

Thanks in advance

Paul and Luke

Go here http://www.jakobud.com/plan-list.php (http://www.jakobud.com/plan-list.php) and find the style you want.  Try to pick one around the size LCD monitor you can get/have. I buy most of my stuff from Ultimarc, Paradise Arcades, Groovy Game Gear, and I got my black vinyl from Happs.   All my artwork was printed at GameOnGrafix.
I run MAME and Hyperspin, some people run Mala, it depends on your preferences.
Check out the built section for walk-throughs of people builds.

Good luck.  :)

You can build "one cabinet to rule them all" but it gets complicated quickly.  If you're new to the hobby pick out your favorite genre (shooting, fighting, driving, whatevs) and design around playing those games.  Do some napkin sketches and upload them.  We're a generally helpful bunch and will steer you in a generally straightish line.   ;D

Welcome to the hobsession!
