Can anyone else confirm that under MAME 148u1 that while playing Mortal Kombat 4 if you press the W key, that a box pops up and displays "offs = 000000" and the video scrambles. The game registers that the button was pressed after you let go, and the game doesn't seem to know it's happening (you can hear it in the background). It is acting like a universal scramble key, and the game unscrambles and plays fine after you let go. I have checked all the other key assignments, in mk4.cfg, default.cfg, mame.ini and so forth, but can't seem to find why it's happening, also I should note the W key works perfect in every other game (it's button 4 on my ipac so it's a pain).
Anyone else seeing this issue with the W key in MK4 under 148u1?

I can't confirm that because I'm still on 147u3. Did they made any progress with the graphic issues?

That's a debug message put in by the mamedevs. Isn't mk4 still officially "unplayable"? That's probably why.
Oh btw, the defaults for mame are the Up,Down,Left and Right keys for p1 and "R, F, D, G" for p2, NOT WASD. I know the ctrl and alt keys are a bad choice, but if you try and stick to the other defaults it will help you avoid these issues.

That game is one of the worst mortal kombat games (not as bad as the xbox era games though)...still want it running... Haha

I know this is an old thread, but I'm having the same issue. Is there a way to disable the w key from enabling the debugger message?
