Title: Zeke's Peak / Ice Cold Beer Anyone?
Post by: koolmoecraig on March 12, 2013, 09:18:52 pm
Does anyone have a Taito Zeke's Peak or Ice Cold Beer?

I'm having trouble with the LED score board.  One segment of the digit doesn't illuminate.

Also, none of the lights for "Game Over", "Tilt" or the star light up.

Any help is appreciated.  Thanks!

well, which one do you have? they 2 are completely different systems, made by 2 different companies. one is by "Taito" and the other by "ICE"

a simple segment not working could either be a bad solder joint or a bad LED inside the SSD itself.

your first step would be to verify the segment and/orother lamps that aren't working, are in indeed, getting power when it should be lit up. if it isn't you may have a control logic issue.

Incorrect.  Taito made both of them back in the 80's.  ICE made a different one more recently.

I reflowed the solder joints on the bad one to no avail.  Just ordered a new one.

Still trying to figure out the other lights though.

Thanks

yeah, that's what i meant, but now that i read my post over...  ??? I can see how it got all sideways.

I meant "there are 2 different systems made by 2 different companies." not "they 2" i dunno what i was doin there. sorry  ;D

edit:

check your bulb sockets. they just have a tiny little rivet that holds the solder tab on in the center and sometimes they dont get stamped down very good. over the years corrosion happens between the rivet and the tab and causes it to go intermittent.

also check to be sure the correct bulbs are in there. They are a #44 (6.3v 0.25amp).
