Title: New Cabinet Purchase - thoughts?
Post by: Richardgregory on March 12, 2013, 11:06:01 am
I have a seller who is willing to sell me a newly made cabinet.  The cabinet does not have a coin door cut out...is this something that I can do even though it's already assembled?  Just curious as I'm thinking that the cabinet might not have enough strength during the cut out of the coin door from template.

Thanks

What is the cabinet made from? I don't think you should have any issues, depending on the tool you use.

Also, most coin doors have a good overlap, so the cleanness of your cut isn't too important.

Yes, you can cut a hole for a coin door.

No, it will not weaken the structure of the cabinet.

As long as you don't scratch up the finish or damage already-installed electronics (if any) you should be fine.

If it is already painted, mask off the area with painters tape  ;D

as long as you have room for one there`s no problem, I bought a "multi tool" saw/sander (see pic) for £30 from argos (on sale) which i used to cut the hole for my switches, bezel, coin door, used it to trim the plexi for my marquee and also cut some pieces while holding them in my hand, as long as your careful it`ll cut exactly where you point it, hardly any pressure needed, and did it after I`d built the main cab, very useful :)
