Title: ArcadePC on ER tv show
Post by: LedFinZep on November 06, 2003, 11:00:08 pm
Did anyone see ER on NBC tonight? One of the doctors was playing on an ArcadePC, a little Street Fighter II. Thought it was interesting. Is this hobby going manstream?

i beleive it is because the guy who makes the arcadePC is getting rich.

2 years ago i checked his price on the DELUXE it was 3000 dollars and to my surprise i check it again and i must say i am ill because of his price JUMPED 2000 more dollars but if people wanna pay that its there money more power to them ;D

BTW the arcadePC is a rich mans system!!

I was just getting ready to post the exact same thing.  I wonder if Hanaho paid for the product placement. or if  the ArcadePC is being used commercially and it was just coincidence that it was on the show?  Interesting.

Yep, I saw it too.  It was definitely more than coincidence though when they showed a view of the cab from the front.

$5000, man there are some suckers out there....

Yeah, saw that.

When he was first playing it, and the view was mostly facing him, I noticed the bezel looked kinda weird.  And the layout was 2 player 6 button each.  I thought to myself, "that looks like a homemade/mame cab."  Then later they showed it from the front where you could see the ArcadePC marquee.  I was surprised.

I was just trying to imagine how much it cost them to get that shot in there that lasted for less than a second!  A free cab to someone working for the show?  Or more...

I thought it was interesting also because it was sitting "on location" in the show... which makes no sense whatsoever.  Clearly in the context of the show, it should have been a real arcade game.

"Why build one when you can buy an ArcadePC for less than the cost of the parts?"

Get real!

Actually, this one was a total shocker to us, and we had no idea it was going to be their...  One of the shows producers bought one, and he liked it so much that he placed it on the set too.. However, I don't know all the details about it... I had about 2 hours notice that it was there, and get the VRC ready! Pretty kewl, if you ask me!

Oh, and also.. The reason for the price hike on the ArcadePC is simply supply and demand.. The demand for ArcadePC's these days is really really high, we have so many orders thats there's alomost a 6 month waiting list right now as we speak..
