Title: VGA (PC) to arcade monitor: VGA cable sanity check [Newbie]
Post by: tobiasbp on March 07, 2013, 10:21:12 am
Hello forum.

I'm planning to connect at PC running GroovyArcade to my original Space Invaders II cocktail cabinet. The monitor is the original color Toei.

I am a bit confused about the R,G & B ground connections as seen in this schematic:
http://www.geocities.ws/podernixie/htpc/cables-en.html#vgaarcade (http://www.geocities.ws/podernixie/htpc/cables-en.html#vgaarcade)

Where are they supposed to come from? I'm using a VGA cable which I cut in half. Using a multimeter, I can se that pins 5,6,7,8 and the shielding of the cable are connected as in the schematic. Should this/these be connected to the monitor? I don't see how as my monitor only has R,G,B, sync + ground which I am planning to connect as seen below

VGA  1 -> Monitor Red
VGA  2 -> Monitor Green
VGA  3 -> Monitor Blue
VGA 10 -> Monitor black/ground
VGA 13 -> Monitor white/sync
VGA 14 -> Monitor white/sync

Any guidance much appreciated.

Regards,
Tobias

UPDATE
I have attached the cable, but get no picture. I have continued my quest in this thread:
