Title: Coin Mechanism - will it fit?
Post by: Richardgregory on March 05, 2013, 03:59:05 pm
Hi all!

I'm wondering if standard coin mechs from Happ, etc will fit into my coin door as illustrated.  I'm not sure if my door is standard among old cabs.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Thanks - I sure hope so.  I'll have to see if it'll secure onto the bracket somehow.

it'll snap right into the mounting brackets that are there... you will have to move one retaining screw (on each side) from here to here.  Easy, easy!

Wow!  Thanks so much :)   So that's all that holds the mechanism in place is this one retaining screw?

Forgot to ask: the picture makes the mech look quite large....do you think you can let me know what the height and how deep it extends in inches?

Sorry, but an arcade builder newbie! :)

It's not so much a retaining screw as it is a movable tab.  The tabs will slide into the little recesses on your coin door and you will lock it into place with the gray metal hooks.  The coin mechanism is 4" high by 3.5" wide.  I tried to line it up with your photo like so:

I was looking at coin mechs today and well the guy said that in my existing coin door there has to be the Ground/Switch connection.  As you can see by my pictures, there's no such thing :(

So what are my options in getting a coin door wired up if this is the case?

Thanks

You are missing the part that goes under the mech outlet where the microswitch is. I don't know exactly what kind of coin door you have there, but you can probably look at some ebay photos and find the answers you are looking for. With any luck, you can just buy an entire coin door assembly and transplant the parts you need.

Or you can buy electronic mechs that have the switch built into it.  Though they are pretty expensive like $40+ each

If anyone has a link to an electronic coin mech - please share.

Something like this: http://na.suzohapp.com/coindoors/40160000.htm (http://na.suzohapp.com/coindoors/40160000.htm)

But really, there should be some place on your door to fit a levered switch to trigger when a coin falls from the coin mech.
