Title: Is it still worthwhile to pick up a Sony PVM-2530?
Post by: Dcpmark on March 02, 2013, 07:36:03 pm
I see one for less than $90 advertised locally. It won't fit in my current cab (max 23.5" wide) without decasing, but it will probably fit after decasing or I can save it for a larger cab.

What say you.....get it, or leave it?

Check it out, see if you like it. If it's in nice condition, it'll look nice. The only possible, and probably likely, issue is that it needs a DB25 to VGA cable (which you need to make) to connect a 'modern' PC to it. The only other issue is overscan of 240 line games.

In short, it's not PnP and it's got a caveat or two. If you can get a digital multisync presentation monitor you'll be stylin (check local business/university auctions as well as CL).

Thanks for the advice....I think I'll wait for the right multisync. They just didn't make many that will fill out my cab. The 24" Image Systems M24LV-65MAX is the only one larger than 21" that might fit. If I find a 27" NEC 4PG I'll get that and just get a new cab to put it in.

The NEC XM and XP series are killer, too.
