Title: Question about config files in mame
Post by: iscariot on February 26, 2013, 03:00:58 pm
I was looking at kind of a strange mame release and I opened the default.cfg and the only thing that I can make out is MAMEDEF and the rest is gibberish.  Is this something new?  I thought the cfg files were all text.

Cfg files weren't always readable in mame.  They used to be binary files.

It sounds like you are using a version of mame that's so old the ctrlr file system hadn't been implemented yet.

You might be right....in fact I would wager that you are.  Any way to read those files?
