Lol, what would the neighbors think if you were playing that with the curtains open. Looks pretty badass though.
Recoil part is easy. Cordless not so much. Solenoids with kick require some hefty specs 20~30volts dc 5~7 amps. I have one of these http://www.ultimarc.com/aimtrak.html (http://www.ultimarc.com/aimtrak.html) with the recoil solenoid (awesome product). My wish is that someone could chime in to give a starting point of creating a separate board that could be toggled via new switch on gun to do machine gun action. (obvious thread hijack :P) Currently solenoid module only does single fire for that gun.
derp. added link.
good day.

Could this battery work? http://www.rakuten.com/prod/minuteman-parasystems-bp48v17-20-12v-17ah-ups-battery/241852916.html?listingId=243806659 (http://www.rakuten.com/prod/minuteman-parasystems-bp48v17-20-12v-17ah-ups-battery/241852916.html?listingId=243806659)

meh, 18v cordless drill battery and charger. From harbor freight if you want to go cheap.
I'm guessing you'd want it to pulse the entire time the trigger is pulled.
I know enough to know it's possible with a 555 timer to do the pulsing and a transistor to control the higher voltage/current going to the solenoid.
Too much of a noob to draw you a schematic without spending more time than I'd want on it.
