Hi there guys. I have an annoying problem, I hope there is an easy fix? ;(
I have a sega astro city with a Jpac+ ati modified CRT_Emudrivers+Groovymame. Everything was working perfect, I had the mame.ini screen setting all set to show exact arcade resolution and everything looked perfect, no filter/anti-aliasing.
This afternoon I decided to rotate my monitor to play some vertical games. I use Groovymame with Maximus arcade, I put in the command -norotate into the boot up string so mame runs in vertical mode. Now here's my problem, it displays in the right orientation and full-screen but it looks terrible, the picture looks heavily processed with what looks like horrible anti-aliasing and blur. But if I run a hori game it all works sexy with no filtering. It's just vert games that seem to be affected.
Here's what I mean.
Hori

And with a vert game (Mercs)

Looks terrible doesn't it? It as if Groovymame is ignoring my picture settings and just using mame defaults for a normal VGA flat screen, not a CRT.
Any ideas how I can get Vert games looks as nice as my Hori games with no graphics resizing or horrible filters?
Help!
Cheers, Mark.

You must not use -norotate, rotating options are internally managed by GM.
Use '-orientation vertical' instead.

Hi Calamity thanks for the quick reply.
I just tried that but neither Hori or Vert games work if I use -orientation vertical, i just get a black screen. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

All sorted. I had a look at an old thread on the forum and I noticed you recommended to someone to try -monitor_orientation rotate' and it works perfect now! ;)
So happy! Keep up the good work man, Groovymame is a godsend! ;)
