Im sooo confused and lost in the world of lighting...im looking for something to accent the outside of my cab and hide a few neon/led strips on portion below the controls and possibly somewhere else. The cab will be painted black and the trim is red. I dont need anything insane only because how often am I going to playing this thing in the dark. I was thinking of running cold cathode tubes but not sure on powering them or being able to turn them off without unplugging wires...

Go with LED strips.

Will do thanks you like those better than the cold cathode tubes??
-
I recommend the Sylvania coloured LED strips. They can be turned on/off via remote control and set to a variety of different colours. You should be able to find them at Home Depot.

Yep. Check out the Two-Headed Beast in my signature. Cheap Chinese RGB strips, an LED-Wiz, and LEDBlinky is how I set up my cabinet lighting that can change based on game selection, and machine events such as pause, game loading, front end, and sound reactive. I've got about $45 in the cabinet lighting on that machine.

Man I would love to run LED Blinky..im a sucker for flashy lighting. After I finish up setting up Hyperspin I might look into it.

I saw this, it looked neat but IDK about using batteries instead of plugging it in to the wall http://www.amazon.com/GrayBean-11ft-Glowing-Strobing-Electroluminescent/dp/B005LY5DDO/ref=sr_1_14?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1360949305&sr=1-14&keywords=red+led+strips (http://www.amazon.com/GrayBean-11ft-Glowing-Strobing-Electroluminescent/dp/B005LY5DDO/ref=sr_1_14?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1360949305&sr=1-14&keywords=red+led+strips)

Why not use a 120V AC - 3V DC "wall-wart" like this (http://www.amazon.com/Adaptor-Solar-Light-String-200MA/dp/B006LF0NDM/)?

As long as somebody tells me exactly what adapter to buy im up for it..im a noob with electricity and fear burning the house down.

With LED strips, you just tap into your computer's power supply. No need for a power adapter.
