Title: How do you get such high resolution images for cabinet art?
Post by: Dekieon on February 11, 2013, 08:46:51 pm
I am trying to design my art for my control panel, and at 300dpi my CPO is 10500 x 3500, I can't find any images even close to that size. Gameongrafix.com says not to scale up the image size (which makes sense), so how do you all get such high res images?

If my CPO art is this big and I can't find images for it, there is no way I am going to find images for the sides of the cabinet, which will be about 3 times the CPO size.

I some some research on vector art since your post. I found a program called Vector Magic, that is supposed to turn bitmap images into vector images.
Anyone have any experience with this program, that can state if it is any good or not?

I also found Inkscape which is free, so  downloaded that, but haven't had a chance to try it out yet. So I am not sure if it is very good or not.

Vector Magic (http://vectormagic.com/home) is easy to use online.

Won't work for a large, complex, high-res color photo, but it does a very good job on more simple patterns.

Here (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,129492.msg1325308.html#msg1325308)'s one method Qwintin used to make it work with a tricky pic.

+1 on Inkscape.
