Hi Guys,
Figured I'd roll over here from my usually lurking place of the project announcement threads to get some specialized monitor help. Trying to restore my 1984 Paperboy with original 19" Disco AGM 20M med res but it has never had a picture for me. Previous owner said it used to come on 50% of the time and then one day just stopped all together.
The power resisters are getting so hot they are melting the solder on the wires and smoking, so erm yeah :dizzy:
Jump to 2:03 to get straight to the pyrotechnic action...

Fixable or flingable??? I have to admit it would be a shame to have to ditch it as it is all original and wasn't used for over 10 years with no burn on the tube.

Check with Chad at arcadecup.com about a Disco flyback. I don't think any Disco flybacks are available though.

Thanks Ken, yeah I will check, I also have a cap kit inbound. From what I have read on similar issues with this monitor the problem runs deeper than a flyback issue, something to do with voltage regulators and damper diodes but it is all going over my head.

I just gave Chad a call and he said that if I send the board in to him he will try and get it running or find something to run the tube for me, he was pretty interested to hear it was an original Disco especially as it has no burn so he's up for trying to resurrect this old nugget.

Chad currently has one of my monitors, can't wait to get it back... WG 19V2000.

Good choice, Griff!

Nice. You're a braver soul than I, but I love these resto projects.
Hopefully the monitor can be brought back!

Thanks buddy I'll take that as high praise from a craftsman like you. Hope everything else is going OK for you too.
