Hello all wondering if anyone has had this issue?
I have installed the latest drivers from
http://mame.3feetunder.com/windows-ati-crt-emudriver/ (http://mame.3feetunder.com/windows-ati-crt-emudriver/)
However my 4890 shows as a 4980 when its installed. (odd)
Anyways when i hook up my monitor to it once its installed, the arcade monitor is hating it, (not 15khZ)
Has anyone had this issue?
Really stumped, i removed it all and tryed just soft 15khz no go :(
my card has 3 ports DVI HDMI and component (svideo lookin conctor)
I am currently using a DVI to VGA adapter that the card came with.)
had this working fine with the x550

So did you get the driver installed or not? By the topic name I thought it refused to install.

Hey calamity sorry yes it installs however its saying its a 4980 ? thats what i ment by not installing.
about to have another crack.

That must be my typo when adding the chipset to the driver's inf, 4980 does not exist, but it doesn't matter. You can manually edit the name in the inf and install again, that should fix the name.
So did you set 640x480@60i with Arcade_OSD before rebooting with the arcade monitor attached?

Hey no i didn't i did that just then, (fixed the name not sure what caused that uninstall and reinstall fixed that)
I selected
reran the program still only 10 resolutions.
However none of them worked.
Turns out a faulty DVI to VGA adapter caused this the 10 work perfectly.
However i am very restricted my x550 gave me 200+ any ideas?

Get the updated VMMaker from the same link you posted. It's required to deal with new versions of MAME.
Make sure to set your desktop to a 15 kHz video mode before attaching your 15 kHz monitor.
EDIT: Once you use the updated VMMaker you'll get your resolutions back.

Man i downloaded it and everything just brain skipped and didnt think to update it and used the stock one...

Yes, it's the normal amout of resolutions since you're using a dynamic mode table (recommended) which trims the list a lot. However I'm missing some resolutions above 640x480, for virtualized resolutions, did you omit them?

oh i copy and posted the mode list apparently i dont have all of those,
i have 63 modes :(

went into Arcade OSD and counted the white modes that i could select?
is there a better spot to get them?

Are you doing this with a PC monitor attached? That could be trimming the mode list. If that's the case, go to main menu in Arcade_OSD and disable the lock unsupported modes option.

IM doing it on an arcade monitor but its not a multi Sync its just 15khz

Ok. The number of custom modes should match the number of modelines in the Modeline.txt file. If you have only 60 modes, it's possible that you're actually running ATI stock drivers instead of the patched ones. This could be due to some installation issue. Depending on the XP you're running, the shipped drivers might be overridding ours. I'd uninstall everthing, run Catalyst Uninstaller (http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1275 (http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1275)) and start again.

I tested this one old groovy worked fine, and i have noticed a new version is out ( mine was almost 1 year and 4 months old) i thought i would upgrade to support the cause and i reran the modelines with the new version of groovy, funny i got more this time using the preset for k7000 (thats the monitor i have) 19inch

The new version uses a different format for crt_range lines (old monitor_specs). However if yours is a k7000 you no longer need to use custom crt_range lines, just leave them as 'auto' and set the option 'monitor k7000'.

No, leave VMMaker with the monitor_specs you used for k7000, it's GM only where you can just set 'monitor k7000'
In other words, VMMaker is currently stuck with the old format, only GM is updated.
I know this doesn't make much sense but I didn't have the time to update VMMaker yet :P

I'm thinking the problem is probably that you have two cards in there wasn't it (#1 ArcadeVGA, #2 HD 4890). GM currently can only access registry information for card #1, so our current modelines can't be read and modes are reported as 'system'. This will be fixed with next release. By now you can disable the 'lock_system_modes' option in mame.ini, however the funtionality will be limited.
Don't forget to post a log, it will show where the problem is.

ah ha! so i disabled the Arcade VGA from windows and rebooted no worries works okay so far, can not do to much testing as i am at work and i am remote controlling however i can see its switching res now.
(AVGA is only used during boot so i do not care that it is disabled!)

Yep, that was the problem. Thanks for your logs and tests. Hopefully next version will work with both cards enabled too.
