Title: ServoStik Doesn't Fit in Midway Cocktail
Post by: wxforecaster on February 02, 2013, 02:42:14 pm
A little frustrated. Wanted to wire up my new ServoStik's and actuator motor and here's what I'm running into...

The vertical length of the motor, mount, PCB and USB cable is literally and inch longer the a midway cocktail pan. Even if you could somehow wedge the USB cable in there, you then don't have a gap at the top so the motor tip binds against the pan.

This might be remedied by an "L" shaped USB connector, but I have no idea if such a thing even exists. I was surprised to search this forum and find nothing else on this topic. Am I missing something obvious?

No luck in rotating the entire mechanism 90 degrees?  If that doesn't work you can separate the controller board and mount it elsewhere in the cabinet.  At the most you'll have to extend a few wires but it shouldn't impede operation of the unit.

Here are some 90 degree adapters.  http://www.ebay.com/itm/2pcs-90Degree-USB-2-0-M-F-Male-Female-Angle-Connector-Adapter-Left-Right-/170901961434 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/2pcs-90Degree-USB-2-0-M-F-Male-Female-Angle-Connector-Adapter-Left-Right-/170901961434)

Put the pcb somewhere else and extend the motor leads if needed. It doesn't need to be mounted to the base at all.

*pro tip* I should read the other responses first :P

good day.
