It sounded promising and that it was coming from ultimarc.
I know it was never an official product from ultimarc, but has anyone heard anything? The thread it was on looks like a graveyard of unanswered posts.

We still intend to do this. A few other projects got in the way including the ServoStik but I will start working on this again. A PCB design is already done for it.

If the final solution is u360 with rotary I would totaly buy one... or two. So many games made it to my country that needed rotary and everyone was struggling playing them, because no one knew they required rotary joysticks! I would love to finally play them, the way they were meant to be played.
I personally don't care about top fire as I have sexy seimitsu top fire, i hope that won't slow down development.
Andy, any chance for a rough ETA?

I was considering adding a rotary where most ppl put a dedicated 4 way. I would totally swap out my magstick + for them!!

This would be wonderful...I've got happ rotary on my 4-player CP, on the outer positions, but would love to be able to play rotary front and center, but still have Sanwa style sticks for fighters and such...I just like how they feel versus the Happ.
The main issue I have with the happs, as far as the sticks are concerned is they are tight, and the bat top doesn't provide much leverage for spinning...sure, I can grip harder, but it doesn't feel as natural. Not sure how to deal with that, and keep the feel consistent, but I've often pondered some sort of shell with rubber or something on the inside that one could clamp on. That would make me incredibly happy.

Are we talking mechanical or optical? Either way I would definately be interested. Especially if combined with the upcoming servo restrictor modification.

I would guess it will be an analog rotary where the software basically detects rotations just like it detects movement today. But either way, I am also waiting on these hoping for them to release soon. :)

Optical. Benders prototype used a 360 CPR US Digital E4 rotary encoder.

I've bought from there for other projects.
The encoders usually end up approaching $100 each by the time you tack on options, wiring harness, and shipping.
I came across some 200 CPR ones on fleabay for $17 each shipped.
Not exactly what I wanted, but they'll work and the price was pretty sweet so I ordered a pair.
I plan to install them on Sanwa JLFs.
I had previously experimented with some $3.50 12CPR encoders from Sparkfun.
They worked on Ikari Warriors, but none of the other games.
I tested a 900 CPR encoder with the same setup and it worked fine with the other games.
