So... I'm building a mame cabinet. I would like to wire the power up for the monitor in such as way as to turn the 110v power to the monitor on/off when the computer goes to sleep. I am familiar with relays in the DC world and figure that I need to find some sort of power out from the PC that is on when the computer is awake and off when the computer is asleep. Does anyone know of such a standard power wire I could use? I think it could be something as simple as a power LED so long as I use a relay to put little to no load on it.
That being said though, I've never wired a relay powered by DC to turn on A/C. Can somone point me towards a diagram that would show that?
Thanks for any help!

just leave the monitor on and powered up. most monitors will go to a sleep mode when they lose signal.
then will power right up again when you power up the computer.

Its a Wells Gardner K7000. I'm pretty sure arcade monitors dont go into sleep mode. I'm effectively interested in coming up with a "sleep mode" for the arcade monitor.

i'm pretty sure you didn't mention what monitor. "monitor" encompasses a pretty broad spectrum of products.

otherwise, a 12 volt relay driven by the computer power supply and some solder skill is all you need.

But Walmart has units half that price.

They're free if you steal them and if you rob the place you effectively get paid to take them.

Dude, that was one of the most eloquent posts I've seen you write. In any case: noobs will often look a gift horse in the mouth, and not look further.

Meh, I happened to have a thesaurus handy at the time. ;D
