I'd like to build a Galaxy dart machine similar to the one squirrellydw built. I'd like to build one with a switching power supply and was wondering if one of those universal arcade power supplies would work for this. I've seen the galaxy power supplies on ebay, but I don't know if they're switching or linear and these "universal" types seem more simple and readily available. Also, if these are compatible would you have to alter the wiring harness in any way?
These are the power supplies I'm talking about.

Thread about power supply. It will work but you will not have a dimmer for the lights.

Awesome. Thanks for the reply. Sorry for posting a question that had already been answered. I must have looked right past that thread when I was searching.

I got to thinking (usually gets me on trouble), in theory, could I just take a gauge cluster dimmer switch from a car and splice it in to the lighting harness?? Seems like it could work. Those are usually very low wattage bulbs.

It should work but how well it controls will be dependent on how close the wattage of the dart lights are to the ones in a gauge cluster.
