I have a complete Tac/Scan control panel, and I can't manage to get the spinner off of the darn thing. I found two clips which came off, and all 4 bolts came off ok, but I can't seem to get the knob off.
The knob has two holes in the side, a large one and a small one. I tried every Allen wrench and jewelers screwdriver I owned in the holes, and nothing did it.
What tool am I supposed to be using?

Possibly a Torx set screw or it might have a roll pin holding the knob on. Can you post a pic?

I don't think it is a pin. There certainly isn't a pin in the hole. I can sort of see through from one side to the other, so no pin there.
I don't have a camera capable of taking a decent picture of this. Just imagine a spinner knob with two holes on the side of it. One of them is maybe 1/8" and the other one is smaller than that.

Roll pins are hollow. ;)
You'd be able to tell the difference between the end of a steel roll pin and the aluminum of the knob though, unless there's crud built up on it.

Oh, then how does a roll pin come off?

You need a punch (bigger than the hole through the pin, smaller than the hole in the knob) and a hammer. Place the punch on one end of the pin, and tap on it to drive it through. You can drive it completely out if you want, but once it's driven through the shaft the knob should come off.
