How did they do the lighting on the coin door?

Cut out the panel.
Rout out the backside to desired thickness.
Add translucent plexi panel.
Stick eyes to the front.
Backlight with RGB leds at an appropriate distance.

Did not know about the plexi planel thanks!! Also what do you guys use for Leds behind the plexi planel??

You can get coloured LED strips at various h/w stores these days (i.e. Lowes, Home Depot, etc). Personally I like the Sylvania Mosaic strips since they do various colours and are remote controlled.

I`d have got a thin sheet of plastic, some adhesive vinyl cut out the pattern on a plotter, and stuck it on, could have interchangable ones for a fraction of the price/work , stick a cheap little disco/novelty light behind it , cheap and nobody knows :) thinking of doing a few interchangable ones for my marquee
